This has been a long week...

We started it off by saying goodbye to an old friend. Don't worry, noone died, it just feels like it a little bit. It was a caterpillar swing designed with twins in mind that the girls spent a lot of happy hours in. However, they are too big for it and I'm really trying to stop holding onto items just for the sentimental value, so I sold it to another family in my twins club.

Then Bill's Mom came down and stayed with us for a few days. The girls loved it, and kept her entertained the whole time. They showed her how to play with playdough, they read to her, and they chased her around the house.

Today (Friday) was probably the biggest day of all though. We got up, had breakfast, said goodbye to Bill's Mom, and hello to Grandma and Grandpa who were all set to take the girls to the library with me. We headed off to the library, the girls put their old books in the return slot, and went in to toddler story time. Afterwards they each got to pick 3 books to bring home. Riley found a book about mice, but Sam only wanted an elephant book.

After that, I headed to PT and they headed to the park. After PT I met up with them at the park, we headed home, and the girls had an enormous lunch. All that activity apparently worked up an appetite.

Soon it was naps, and then time for Daddy to come home. We went to get him on the train, went out for sushi, and then the girls very politely and sweetly requested ice cream so off we went. They loved it, though initially Sam said she wanted to be grumpy while eating her ice cream.

Then home to wash up, potty, and off to bed at which time I discovered that I had somehow killed my Sidekick. I guess it's goodbye to 2 old friends this week.

Happy Birthday Liz!

So, it's the end of the month, and I'm still working on blogging the middle of the month. Part of what happened was Liz' birthday which is also St. Patrick's Day. It was a fun day for us. First we had lunch with the Doughty-Tan clan, then it was off to St. Patty's Day dinner at our church where Riley was mesmerized by the dancers, and finally back to our house for birthday dessert for Liz. We had frost your own cupcakes and creme brulee, then finished off with a round of Trivial Pursuit 80's style. Liz and Andrea brought along their ringer, Ellaine who wiped the floor with the rest of us. Not too unusual for me, but I think the others were a little more surprised.

Fame is so exhausting

Today while I was out, I got a call from Bill. Apparently Riley, who had been sleeping in our room, had gotten up, turned on the light, and grabbed her sunglasses. She then put on the sunglasses, grabbed her stuffed lizard, and went to sleep looking every bit the movie star diva.

Pottery love

This past weekend we went to Color Me Mine on a whim. The girls had a great time and each painted a pig. They chose their colors, grabbed their paint brushes, and they were off. It was a lot of fun watching them create. I can't wait to see how their artistic efforts come out.

Me? I painted a new light switch plate for my office. Or rather, I had the girls paint a new switch plate cover for me.

It's 4:04 and I'm still up.

And yes, I'm still excited. I just hope I can remember it all the next time I'm on the ice.

I am so jazzed!

Why am I up at 2:55 A.M. you ask yourself? Or maybe you don't, but I'm going to tell you anyway. I played hockey tonight. Well, I attended a practice. I still can't shoot due to my shoulder, but it gave me some great skating time, and with some expert coaching, I think I might have figured out how to bend my knees AND keep my head up while skating. Of course it's going to take a lot more practice and I'm going to have to figure out how to do it with a puck on my stick, but it's the most excited I've ever been about a practice.

As a result, I am so jazzed that I can't sleep. I tried. I really did. Put on my jammies and climbed into bed, but that just didn't last so I came to share with my internet friends. Thanks for listening.

So I promised you a deluge of posts...

and I haven't delivered. Sorry, it's been crazy city over here, so instead of many posts I think I will deliver one VERY LARGE post (Liz will love that) covering all that has happened in the last 2 weeks. Yep, you heard me right, the last two weeks. Until then, later gator.

I'm just not Steve.

Last Sunday Bill and I are watching a television show that I don't really care about. Somewhere in the middle of the show Bill starts laughing, but I do not. He looks over at me and calmly says, "Steve would have laughed at that."

(For those of you who don't know, Steve is a good friend of Bill's who apparently has a much different sense of humor than I do.)

It's a conspiracy I tell you.

Since I hadn't been blogging much, and really wasn't motivated to, I decided to make it official and call a hiatus. No sooner had I done that then the universe, Bill, Viv and Andrea conspired to end this nonsense. However, the real deal maker was Liz who actually paid me a dollar to blog again. You may think she handed me this dollar, but no. Liz went through the effort of Paypalling me the dollar. Lest you think I'm kidding, here's the screen shot for your entertainment. Thanks Liz. Oh, and be prepared for a deluge of posts (If I can find time to sit down and write them.)

Blogging Funk

Ok, lately I've been in a blogging funk. I'm bored with my blog, and if I am then I'm sure the few readers I have left must have certainly passed out by now. However, my life lately is my shoulder (blech) and my girls, which though I love them I can't always blog about them. Rather than stressing about not blogging, I think I'm just going to take a hiatus. Too bad I can't get a paid blog sabbatical. Oh well. Until sometime in the very distant future.

Today the girls had their first trip to the library

Sadly, I've never taken my girls to the library before now, but that all changed today. Today we got dressed and took ourselves over to the library.

Sam was very excited to go. All she could say was, "libary, libary" and "let's go." Riley was a little more hesitant. She claimed she would just stay home with Daddy. We eventually convinced her to go, and it was a good thing. Once we got there, Riley had a great time picking books, sitting down to read them, putting them back, and then getting another one. Sam picked her book to "buy" and then just wanted to run and squeal. It was quite the effort to get her to settle down. Eventually the girls had their very first library cards, had checked out their very first books, and we were headed home. Once home we had to sit down and read them immediately, of course.

My girls are apparently gainfully employed, or were...

Today Sam and Riley put on their backpacks, came to the door of my office and said goodbye. I asked them where they were going and they said, "work". They then described how they were going to take the train to go to work with Daddy, then they headed off to the other room. Shortly they were back at the door to my office claiming that work was closed for the day so they couldn't go. I said, "That's ok, you can go tomorrow," to which they replied, "No, no more work." Oh, if only it were that easy.
