I totally wasn't ready for this.

Today as I'm working I overhear Sam ask Riley, "You want to watch me
make a baby?" Of course my ears perked right up as well as my
I'm-not-ready-for-that alarm. I had momentarily forgotten that they
were playing with Play-doh. Whew! No need for sex talks yet.

Here a hair, there a hair, everywhere a hair hair

Ok dear readers, if you were a professional hair stylist what would you
do with my hair? Seriously. No mohawk, shave your head, etc.
suggestions please.

Thanks in advance for your insight.

Just like Mom use to do.

Sunday morning I arrived home from work, opened the door, and was met by the fabulous smell of fresh baked bread. That was the best. It was quite tasty too. The girls and I sat down and sliced off several hunks right away. (Thanks Bill.)

How to feed the dog when you're 3

Yesterday the girls decided they wanted to feed Harrison (our new puppy for those of you not tracking my life.) Sam started by walking over to the 25 lb. bag of food, picking up a handful (roughly 4 to 5 pieces), then walking back to his bowl and putting it in. After about 3 trips Riley joined in the fun. I really didn't see the harm in this though in hind sight I really should have.

After a couple more trips the girls apparently realized how much effort they were putting into this, and that there should be a better way and they found it. Riley (per their report) pulled the 25 lb. bag of food over to the dog food bowl (approximately 10 to 12 feet and around 2 corners). Now remember, Riley herself hasn't even topped 30 lbs., so this was basically like moving her own weight around. Once it was in the bathroom (where the dog bowl was at the time), she tried to pour it into the bowl. Unfortunately the bag ripped, and ALL the food spilled out onto the floor. When they heard us coming Sam quickly started trying to scoop up all the food and put it into the bowl while Riley crawled into the remains of the bag which she inverted over herself so we wouldn't be able to see her.

It was quite funny, and very difficult not to laugh. I gave them gallon sized ziploc bags and let them pick up the food. (I'm not sure, but I think Bill ended up helping them since I had to leave for work.) Later that night he found one of the bags stashed in their room. We're not really sure what they planned to do with it.

"Help" with the laundry.

Last week while I was playing hockey with Andrea the girls were apparently busy "helping" to do the laundry. They took all the clothes out of their drawers and relocated them to the dining room. Why? I don't know. We don't do laundry in the dining room.

In any case, when we came off the ice Andrea received the following IM from Bill.

"Don't bring Susan home. The girls have created a disaster, she will kill me."

Shortly after it was followed by the all clear message saying he and the girls had cleaned up the mess, and indeed they had, because the only evidence that this happened is this photo.

My very belated 4th of July post.

Due to getting Harrison, and having a rather mellow holiday, I have been very lax in getting the 4th of July report out.

This year it was determined that we would got to Sacramento for the 4th so we could light off fireworks. It worked out well since picking up Harrison was on the way. We spent the night, and Bill got up early the next day to go shopping for the required fireworks. I stayed and played with Harrison and the girls, and when Bill got back we all took a little nap. Yep, you heard right. I napped. We hadn't gotten to bed til 3 in the morning, and then were up at 7:00, so I was very tired.

It was far too hot to BBQ (the outside temp was between 104 and 107 that day depending on where you were in the area), so we cooked in the comfort of airconditioning. We did make the requisite homemade ice cream, but in a whole new method. We got one of those contraptions that look like a hamster ball really cheap, filled it, and then the girls and I rolled it around until it was pretty solid. As you can guess, it was a lot of work for very little yield.

Finally it was dark and we had fireworks. We started the girls off with sparklers, but they were totally unimpressed. Then came the bigger fireworks. The girls were waiting, the fuse was lit, the flashes began, the whistling commenced followed by the screams of two little girls. Sadly, they do not share their father's love of fireworks. They quickly retired to the house with their hands over their ears, and we shut down the fireworks display. Maybe next year. Sigh.

Meet Harrison

As most of you know, we got a puppy on July 3rd. He was dubbed Harrison. Why? We don't know, the name just came to us. He's a 9 week old (tomorrow) Golden Retriever with the sweetest personality, and the tiniest bladder. I swear this dog piddles and poops more than the twins combined at that age. Even so, he is a very cute little furball. Uploading pics soon, but until then here's one to hold you over.

The girls have their own personal drumming circle.

Daddy! They thought it was great fun to sit on him and use his hands and feet as drums. Other "drums" included his head, back, and tushie. They were kept entertained like this for some time.

Happy Birthday Stacey

Tuesday was Stacey's birthday. We had a mellow dinner with the family, opened a few presents which at this age are all contained in cards, wished her happy birthday, and sent her out with her friends. Being the bad mother I am, I didn't get a single birthday picture of her. Someone would surely call DCFS if she were still under age.

Great America?

Sunday we went to Great America with the girls for the first time. We had season passes to cash in, and we were running out of time. I don't know if my memory is failing me, or if it's just our trips to pristine Disneyland, but GA seemed very dirty, and the clientele seemed to be less courteous than other places.
On the upside, the girls did have a good time for the few hours we were there. They rode a few rides, had some lunch, rode the skytram back to the front of the park, and headed home.

3 Games, 3 Wins, 2 Days, and 1 Happy Camper, Me!

Yep, I played 3 hockey games with 3 different teams in 2 days and we won them all. Now I didn't have a whole lot to do with the first 2 wins, missed way too many passes, and over skated the puck, etc., etc., but I had a great time. In the 2nd game I had an assist on a sweet goal by Andrea, and in the third , game I actually scored a goal myself. Woo hoo! Go me!
