My Summer Vacation
Ok, the end of my summer vacation would be more accurate. Today marked to momentous occasions here at our house. The first was the unusual police activity. A visitor to our house commented that we must live in a "real good" neighborhood, which actually we do live in a pretty decent area, but today (and the last week) were not examples of this.
Today, the police pulled over a car on the main road in front of our house. Working in and around the house, we just casually noticed it until a second police car showed up. Then they began to search his car, so it got kind of interesting. At some point though, the second car left and minutes after her left, was pulling over another car in front of our house. Now then, we're not sure what transpired that prompted the police to get up in arms (literally), but there it was. Bill was yelling to get the girls to the back of the house because the police were drawing guns. After a few minutes they had both passenger and driver cuffed on the sidewalk. In the mean time, Mr. I-just-had-my-car-searched was standing behind his car, with his arms out to his sides as if to say, "What about me?" (This was while the couple was still cuffed on the sidewalk.) The police waved him on, so he left. About 10 minutes after that, they removed the couples cuffs, shook hands with the driver, and sent them on their way. That was the city provided fun for the day.
Now then, the rest of the entertainment was provided by me. Foolishly I thought I might go back to playing hockey (and for some reason I still want to), but if today was any indication of my ability to do so, then it's a pipe dream. I decided to go to Give Hockey a Try Day (GHATD) put on by the NCWHL. I'd like to say there's no pictures of my foolishness, but some of my friends were there that seemed more than happy to take photos. (If you did get any identifying ones, I'll pay you good money to destroy them.)
In any case, according to the critics I still don't bend my knees, can't do a crossover (duh), and generally played like I always had (there's a reason I never moved up a division people.) In any case, I had a lot of fun, fell a couple of times including once on a great breakaway (not to hard to do at GHATD). I'm embarrassed to say that I had 3, maybe even 4 clear shots on goal and I biffed them all. So, I sadly hang my head, head home, and wonder when I'll be able to do it again. Lookout green, here comes the best biffer you've ever seen. ;)
So, that's the end of my summer vacation. This week it's back to work for me. blech!

Wow, that sounds like me. I still don't bend my knees and I fell on my ass trying to right crossover during warmups tonight. I'd like to say no one saw it, but I think someone did ... and laughed.
I have pictures of a Tigger jersey on ice. I think I might Flickr them, unless ... ;)
Oh darn, looks like someone beat me to it.
ok, i am forbidding you...that's right, FORBIDDING...to beat yourself up for ghatd. i thought you did great, especially for someone who hasn't skated in what, 2 years? and who had given birth to two adorable kids! and fwiw, you looked hella better than everyone out there, so i don't want to hear it.
i saw several crossovers, and i confess, i cursed you for it. yeah, you biffed but it was way more of a crossover than i still have! your critics better be more supportive or else they get to deal with me because i want to play with you this season!
Man that left wet noodle marks all over me. ;)
Jesus Christ, woman. You did great. And let me say: THE NHL IS NOT GOING TO CALL YOU NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU BEND YOUR KNEES.
So get your ass out there and have some fun.
I'm pretty sure the request for no pictures has been thoroughly ignored. It was cool to see the Tigger jersy on the ice again. Get your butt back out there and make people happy
It was great to see you out there again... didn't mean to make you feel bad and I never even mentioned your name in the picture! And everyone needs to bend their knees! I hope to see you out there again.
