Weekend update

This weekend was extra special because it is the first weekend I have officially had off since I went back to work from my extended maternity leave. This was last October for those of you keeping track. Anyway, we didn't do much, but I totally and thoroughly enjoyed not going to work AND being able to spend family time together. Usually it's me and the girls or Bill and the girls. The only missing part was Stacey since she works most of the weekend and plays with her friends the rest of the time.

Saturday we got up late, showered, and went up to Ben Lomand for a friends birthday party for their one year old. The girls had a great time as there were several kids there for them to play with. Sam was enthralled with their dogs, and just sat in front of the sliding glass door forever watching them, "talking" to them, and patting the window as if sher were petting them. Apparently we really need to get another dog. But oh, do I want to housebreak one at this time?

Riley otoh, had a great time being right in the center of all the action. She had a great time playing with the other kids, and of course the new toys. She loved the board with all the different hooks and latches on it - I guess I'm going to have to try and find one of those.

That night we went to my brothers for haircut night - it's an event that takes place every 5 weeks with a long history I won't get into here. Anyway, a bunch of family and friends get together, we have a potluck (in the summer we usually BBQ), and about 75% of the people get their hair cut.

They have a little above ground pool that stands about 3 1/2 feet high, and is about 8 ft in diameter that most of the kids were having fun playing in. Samantha walked right over and started trying to figure out how to get in. She reached up to the lip, grabbed on and pulled herself part way up, they used her feet to "walk" up the side a little more. If she could have figured out how to get up and over, she would have been in the pool. Riley just kept reaching for the top and laughing when water would splash over. Since they were both so enthralled, we stripped them down and held them in the pool where they proceeded to kick, splash, laugh, and have a great time. Riley even put her face in the water repeatedly coming up laughing every time. Hopefully this means I'll have a couple of swimmers on my hands.

Sunday we went to Home Depot, got some blinds for the girls room and a shelf with the illusion that we will make their room more conducive for sleeping. This week we'll have to set up the extra crib in there and try it out. We also got another mini blind for the kitchen, a couple of portable ac units, and scouted out some area rugs.

After that, we went to our friends Rich and Angelica's. They were having a garage sale, and we scored some useful stuff, had a BBQ, and then headed home with the girls.

All in all it was a good weekend. Two more to go - yeah!!!
